WebTreats Etc…

If you’re building your own site you shouldn’t be without WebTreats Etc.. It’s a great resource for backgrounds and loads of custom social network icons. I used their Matte Black Social Media Icons on this page.

must check this out! looks like an entire artists toolbox and and operating system built out of a mindmapping concept. it looks like it’ll boot off a USB stick too. all/most of the tools necessary for being a digitally savvy artist could be distributed on artOne USB sticks.

Screen shots are here and openartist hq is here

interesting to read , for the web savvy much of this will be familiar – for me the comments were more interesting. Particularly like the Shit Churches blog!

the wiring under the floorboards…

some how something broke… when I post to FCBS i’m no loonger automatically posting on Twitter. There seems to be huge difference between the idea of the interconnectedness and understanding the actual flow of information.

Marber: A WordPress Theme

Well, well , well after reading about the Marber grid at Jim Jupps Ghostbox Blog I found a grid inspired wordpress theme here. After spending ages fiddling with my current layout I’m tempted to see how this one would work for me. I have a feeling it would work better for blogs with larger posts. I tend to write short posts.

Free internet domains

Finally bit the bullet and set up a domain and some free hosting. My domain is , or soon will be here:

http://www.jezstevens.co.cc

I’ve checked out what .co.cc is and although it’s some tiny island in the middle of nowhere I don’t care – apparently all the relevant search engines find it – and that’s what counts. Once the site I’ve pointed this is ready it will have some “net art” in it – probably something subtle done in Processing.

I don’t suppose for a minute that I’m going to rely on this domain as I am well aware that there is no such thing as a free lunch (or a “free” website!). If there’s any unnecessary advertising it’ll be history.
